Park Tool school is a bicycle maintenance course where you will be taught by a certified instructor to expand your bicycle maintenance knowledge and skill set. This course is tailored to those looking to obtain a firm grasp of all the basics you will need to perform repairs and keep your bike running smoothly.
Provided with the course is the latest edition of the Park Tool Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair (BBB-4) so you have something to help expand your knowledge afterwards and as a great tool to reference later on.
You will also be provided with a Park Tool certificate upon completion. As a congratulations for finishing the course, Dismount will offer a -10% discount on any parts, accessories, or tools you might need. (Roadrunner, Swift and Spurcycle product excluded).
WHAT YOU GET:
You get 4 x 2 hour classes that are provided once a week by a certified Park Tool mechanic who will provide hands on instruction with a small class and answer any questions you might have as well.

WHAT IT COSTS:
- Pricing is $250 per person.
- Classes will take place on Sunday afternoon at Dismount Bike Shop after store hours to ensure no distraction. Classes will start at 4:30PM.
- All registration must be done online ahead of the first block of courses.
- In order to ensure best experience for everyone, we will be capping each block of sessions at 4 people.
Here is a rough breakdown of each class.
Terminology and the Basics - We'll take a look at bike terminology and how to diagnose and safety check your bicycle. We give you a full equipment overview so you have a great foundation on all parts and tools moving through the rest of the classes.
Tires, Tubes and Brakes - We cover flat fixes, tires, tubes, wheels and then move right into brakes. We'll cover the different styles of brakes, how to adjust them, replace brake pads and diagnose when they need to be replaced.
Drivetrain - In this class we cover everything you need to know about the drivetrain of the bike. All of the cogs, cranksets, derailleurs, bottom brackets and chains. We teach you how to remove, install and take care of these parts.
Shifting and Adjustment - Get to know the fundamentals of gear adjustment. We teach you how to replace cables and housing, identify shifting problems and how to solve them. We also cover how to adjust your derailleurs and identify chain and cassette wear.
A minimum of 3 people is required for each block of courses. If a course doesn't meet minimum registration, attendees will be given the opportunity to transfer to a future course date.
All attendees must pre-register online for the course and choose your selected date range from the drop down menu. Once enrolled, 25% of the course fee will be non refundable in the event that you have to cancel your participation outright.. we will refund 100% if we have to cancel the course for any reason!
