The Great Dismount Gift Guide 2020 - Megan's Picks

Our Annual gift guides are here to help you make sense of what to buy your loved ones around the holidays. It can be exhausting to try to guess out of thin air what the perfect gift might be, so this year we’ve compiled several different lists, handpicked by our amazing staff to try to help track down that perfect, practical gift.

If you've ever ordered something from us online, talked to someone in our online chat or emailed with a question about an order, chances are you already know Megan. Megan is responsible for an awful lot at Dismount and there's no way we could operate without her! Megan loves camping, going on weekend adventures and has had a chance to test out a lot of really cool gear. After a year of riding the GNR, Simcoe County Loop and lots of great gravel rides out in PEC, here is Megan's picks for must have products this year!

Megan's Picks

1. Outer Shell Stem Caddy

These handmade bike bags are the best place to toss all your essentials while riding.  This stem caddy was designed with the best attention to detail like one handed entry and exterior pocket for your cellphone.  Big enough for your keys, wallet, phone, mask, sanitizer or a Nalgene water bottle! Handmade in San Francisco.

2. Road Runner Burrito Supreme

Perfect for taking a little more with you on your bike!  If a stem caddy doesn’t fit all your essentials, the burrito supreme gives you a bit more storage space.  Great for longer rides, extra layers, a set of lights, lunch or snacks!  All Road Runner bags are hand made in Los Angeles.

3. Topo Designs Global Jacket

This jacket is an awesome all rounder for both on and off your bike.  It’s 10K waterproof, and has tons of versatility whether you’re pairing with base layers for a cold weather ride, out on a hike, or just need a quality raincoat on hand for getting around the city in wet weather.

4. Spurcycle Bell

This bell has a super sharp, long lasting crisp ring to make sure people know you’re coming.  Paired with its sleek design, it makes a great gift for the avid cyclist in your life!

5. Salsa Anything Cage

The name of the cage says it all-  mount these to your fork and you can quite literally take anything with you!  Pair with Road Runner’s Buoy Bag or just strap on directly- like a couple of sleeping bags!  Comes with Salsa’s fabric straps or pair with Voile straps.

6. Dismount Voile Straps

Voile straps have an endless amount of functions! Make sure your gear is secure, bundle your gear together, replace fabric straps on your bike bags…super versatile which why I love these so much!

7. Topo Designs Mini Quick Pack

I love a good hip pack and this one is my current favourite in the shop.  Full of cool design features like an external bike attachment loop, a neon liner to make contents easy to find, and a key clip in the external pocket to keep your keys handy.  Adjustable straps to wear it over your shoulder or around your waist.

8. Patagonia Retro-X Vest

Cozy meets practical with this windproof vest! It’s made of 50% recycled Polyester, fair trade sewn, has hand warmer pockets and it looks great no matter what you pair it with.

9. Patagonia Nether Liner Shorts

I’m always on the lookout for versatile pieces!  Wear these liner shorts indoors under any of your workout gear while on your trainer or stationary bike, layer them underneath cold weather gear for a winter ride, underneath your MTB shorts, or under your regular clothes to elevate your comfort on your daily commute!  These shorts are the perfect all season accessory.

10. Topo Designs Work Cap Black

I love a good toque and the work cap from Topo Designs is a classic!  The perfect stocking stuffer or gift.  Not a fan of black?  We love this toque so much we’ve got it in four other colours!
